The River Esk gently disects the village and once a year becomes the focus of attention when the annual Duck Race takes place, one of the many fun activities organised for the village show.
Lealholm
is situated in the midst of the North Yorkshire Moors, which offer
stunning scenery all year round, and is a walkers paradise. The Moors
Centre is located just outside the nearby village of Danby.
Other easily accessible places of interest include the historical fishing port of Whitby famed for amongst many other interesting things the dramatic setting of Brahm Stoker's Dracula. Runswick Bay and Sandsend are within easy reach, both offering beautiful stretches of uncrowded sandy beach. Goathland the setting for Aidensfield in ITV's Heartbeat, and the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway where filming of the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express train took place are also close at hand, should you wish to go back in time and take a trip on one of these steam trains, there is a regular service between Pickering and the village of Grosmont which is a mere 6 miles away.
