Lealholm is not just a walkers paradise but also a great base for exploring everything else the Moors and the Yorkshire Coast offer, including the North York Moors Steam Railway, Whitby famed for Bram Stokers Dracula, the uncrowded unspoilt beaches of Sandsend and Runswick Bay, and the wide variety of Good Food and Real Ales offered by the many Village Pubs and Tea Rooms.

Stepping Stones Holiday Cottage enjoys an enviable setting overlooking the village green, within the picture postcard North York Moors village of Lealholm, where sheep from the moors and ducks from the river roam freely.

The River Esk gently disects the village and once a year becomes the focus of attention when the annual Duck Race takes place, one of the many fun activities organised for the village show.

The cottage takes its name from the 'stepping stones' which cross the river just around the corner, whilst in front lies the village green where the ancient game of Quoits is still enjoyed once a week by the locals.

Lealholm is situated in the midst of the North Yorkshire Moors, which offer stunning scenery all year round, and is a walkers paradise. The Moors Centre is located just outside the nearby village of Danby.

The picturesque villages of Danby, Rosedale, Castleton, Ainthorpe, Glaisdale and Westerdale are all nearby, all are well worth exploring and provide opportunities for afternoon tea, fine dining, and the sampling of local ales.

Other easily accessible places of interest include the historical fishing port of Whitby famed for amongst many other interesting things the dramatic setting of Brahm Stoker's Dracula. Runswick Bay and Sandsend are within easy reach, both offering beautiful stretches of uncrowded sandy beach. Goathland the setting for Aidensfield in ITV's Heartbeat, and the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway where filming of the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express train took place are also close at hand, should you wish to go back in time and take a trip on one of these steam trains, there is a regular service between Pickering and the village of Grosmont which is a mere 6 miles away.

The cottage has recently been fully refurbished to a high standard and comfortably sleeps 2, an optional 3rd folding bed is also available upon request. Fully equipped self catering facilities are included, for a small additional charge you can choose to start the day with an excellent freshly prepared breakfast, served at a time to suit you. We are very flexible in our approach, stays of any duration can be accommodated, and we will do our utmost to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible.
